Speaking on the Harmontown podcast, Schrab, who will be directing his first picture with The Lego Movie 2, revealed that talks had already begun with BBC America (presumably meaning more correctly BBC Worldwide), to feature Doctor Who in some way as part of the forthcoming film.

There is no further word on what presence Doctor Who would have in the film, nor whether Peter Capaldi would be sought to provide voice work.

Speaking to Empire earlier this year, Scarab said:

“[We’ll see] what happens to that boy who’s in the meta story in the first movie when he’s four years older… It’s nice to have the characters start in a different place from the first movie. Emmet, for example, was in an existential crisis of having seen another dimension and was questioning the whole point of his existence.”

Released in 2014, The Lego Movie was one of the top grossing films of the year, taking $468.8 million at the box office. The Lego Movie 2 will be released sometime in 2018.
