Peter Davison is to appear at the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular which will tour Melbourne, Brisbane and Wellington in 2014.
The Fifth Doctor actor will act as host of the event and is looking forward to the role:
“I’m hosting the show, introducing it, introducing various bits, so I’ll be popping on a bit like the man does when they host the Oscars, cracking the odd joke or two, and introducing the next bit. I’m excited about it because I love the idea of getting people into a big stadium to hear a full orchestra playing music – there’s something very special about that.”
Peter is particularly looking forward to his first major trip to Brisbane, famously home of companion Tegan Jovanka and actress Janet Fielding:
“Janet is the person who keeps my feet on the ground, along with my children. In the last email, I asked her to give me some tips about Brisbane because I’m coming out to do a job, and she sent me an email back saying ‘nobody loves ya’. I think she’s out there now actually, home for Christmas. She always tells me I should visit Brisbane – I did briefly for one day last April, but that was the only time I was there – but I’m looking forward to spending a bit more time there because it’s one major city in Australia I haven’t really spent very much time in at all.”
