Matt Smith Interviewed for What’s on TV

There’s a short interview with Matt Smith in this weeks What’s on TV where he reveals, amongst other things, his love for The Eleventh Hour

“I’ve been in nearly 40 episodes, but I loved The Eleventh Hour because everybody was nervous about how it would be received and at the end it felt like we’d achieved something special. This episode is up there though.”

Steven Moffat Speaks on Christopher Eccleston Not Appearing in The Day of the Doctor

Steven Moffat has said in the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine that Christopher Eccleston would have essentially taken the same role as John Hurt but logically it might not have made sense

“I was pretty certain Chris wouldn’t do it, although he did agree to a couple of meetings, so instead we had the challenge and excitement of introducing a BBC audience to a brand new Doctor. [Eccleston] is a brand new Doctor in ‘Rose,’ he’s absolutely, definitely new. It couldn’t have been him who pushed the button in the Time War, that’s a new man, very explicitly, in that episode.”

No Ceremony in Handover

Steven Moffat has said their was no ceremony in the handover from Matt Smith to Peter Capaldi

“There’s no ceremony about these things. Once they got to the end of Matt’s bit Peter came on and Matt had to give him his watch, his time machine and his girl and go. They had a big hug and all that. It’s emotional because it’s a friend leaving the show and we’ll miss him terribly. It’s the end of an era.”

Dream Come True For One Young Fan

A young actor’s dream has come true as he stars alongside Matt Smith in The Time of the Doctor this Christmas.

Jack Hollington, 12, a pupil at Merchant Taylors’ High School, in Crosby , will be playing Barnable in the Christmas Special and says:

“It was absolutely amazing to be cast in any episode of Doctor Who, but to be in a Christmas special alongside the Doctor’s worst enemies – the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Angels and the Silence – is unbelievable. The episode is even more special as it is Peter Capaldi’s entrance as the Doctor.I will be watching as a fan, but to actually be part of the cast is a dream come true.”
