Sixth Doctor actor Colin Baker has claimed the BBC are too timid to ever cast a female Doctor.
Baker, who played the lead role between 1984 and 1986, said he would like to see a woman in the role but doesn’t believe it’s likely:
”There should [be a female Doctor]. It won’t happen because they are too timid, but there should be.”
Colin even quipped he’d be willing to take on the role himself!
”First female Doctor? I will have a sex change and do it. I am in touch with my feminine side.”
Meanwhile Baker had no particular advice for new Doctor Peter Capaldi, believing the actor should leave his own stamp on the part:
