Samuel Anderson has spoken on the relationship between the Doctor and Danny Pink, the slight mishap after he first got the role of Danny and more in a new interview with the LA Times‘s Hero Complex.
Speaking to Patrick Kevin Day and Noelene Clark, Anderson revealed an early slip after being told of his casting:
“I went back inside and told my friends ‘Bloody hell, I just got Doctor Who’, just then my phone rang again. It was my agent again, who said, ‘Don’t tell anyone.’”
And also reveals some of what we can come to expect between his character and Peter Capaldi’s Doctor:
“There’s a bit of friction that arises between Danny and the Doctor midway through the season and [Danny's knowledge of math] is a tool for that friction… Danny is an ex-soldier and he’s an ex-soldier for a reason, the Doctor isn’t sure about that when they first meet… He’s a bit of an opposite to the Doctor.”
