Listen scored an Audience Appreciation Index or AI score of 82, equaling the 82 scored by Deep Breath and Robot of Sherwood.
The Appreciation Index or AI is a measure of how much the audience enjoyed the programme. The score, out of a hundred, is compiled by a specially selected panel of around 5,000 people who go online and rate and comment on programmes.
As we reported in August the last time the series scored an AI of 82 prior to Series 8 was in June 2006 for Love & Monsters (the new series low of 76), yet tellingly Series 1 also scored low on the index in the first half of the series as the show found it’s footing with audiences, a similar scenario as to what may be happening here.
The only other episodes to score as low at 82 are all from Series 1: Rose (81), The End of the World (79), The Unquiet Dead (80), Aliens of London (81), World War Three (82) and Boom Town (82),
The episode rated higher with Women than Men and scored the highest within the 16-34 demographic.
An AI of 82 is the average rating for all drama across the BBC.
