The BBC have announced that Sanjeev Bhaskar, possibly best known for his roles in Goodness Gracious Me and The Kumars at No. 42 is to join the cast of Series 8.
The role is a dream come true for Sanjeev:
“I’m thrilled to have made a small contribution to and now be part of the Doctor Who universe. Another dream box ticked!”
Steven Moffat confirmed that the actor and comedian will appear in the series finale and seemingly be an ally of the Doctor:
“I’m completely thrilled that Sanjeev Bhaskar is coming to the aid of the Doctor. The danger is never deadlier than in a finale episode, and the Time Lord is going to need all the help he can get!”
The series 8 finale is expected to be broadcast in November of 2014.
Singer Foxes meanwhile has spoken more about her upcoming role in the forthcoming series, giving a few hints as to her performance and character. Speaking to Digital Spy, she said:
“I’ve done a song for Doctor Who, and it’s a little bit different from what I’d usually do, it was really nice to be out of my comfort zone. I’m singing it on the episode.”
And on whether the song could potentially be released as a single:
“It’s one of those things where I wouldn’t say no, but I don’t really know yet.”
And the budding actress has revealed she is sworn to secrecy over the role.. but prefers Peter Capaldi to Matt Smith!
“I can’t say [about the role]! I’m not playing a villain. I think I’m nice in the show…. I love him though [Capaldi]. He’s such a charmer. I was asked who I fancy between Matt and him and I was like, ‘Peter Capaldi!'”
