Doctor Who has continued it’s run as a trend setter as sales of Crombie coats double following the unveiling of Peter Capaldi’s costume this past week.
Shoppers have flocked to Crombie’s London, Manchester and Edinburgh stores to snap-up the stylish jacket as worn by Capaldi, setting them back a cool £800 ($1115) for the standard coat while made to measure versions with the Capaldi style red lining would be closer to £3000 ($4930).
A spokesperson for the brand, once worn by the Beatles and currently by James Bond star Daniel Craig, revealed there had been a two-fold increase in enquiries about the item:
“Calls and e-mails to our customer service line were double their usual and more than half the queries for our made-to-measure service this week have been for the style of coat worn by Peter Capaldi as the Doctor.”
Meanwhile the new Doctor’s footwear has been revealed as Loake Loafers, not Doc Martens as originally identified.
The Kettering manufacturer’s boots and shoes are sold exclusively via one Camden Town store.
Store owner Nicholas Roumana told the Telegraph:
“Peter Capaldi came in a week or two before Christmas and said he was looking for a pair of smart dress boots. I suggested this one, because not only is it very smart, it’s exclusive to us and made in England. It’s a great boot. He bought it in size 10.”
The shoes are available for £215 ($353).
