The Mail has revealed that the first episode of Series 8 will see the Doctor come face-to-face with notorious Victorian serial killer Jack the Ripper, apparently pictured below.
The Mail claims that recent scenes that we have seen being filmed will be set in Whitechapel in 1888, scene of the gruesome famous murders.
The Ripper was said to have been eaten by Madam Vastra in A Good Man Goes to War, the Paternoster Gang also starring in the coming first episode alongside Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman.
In other news, the origin of the mysterious phone call from the Doctor that was seen during filming this past week would seem to have been revealed as it was claimed Matt Smith will feature in the first episode of the season.
The eleventh Doctor will call Clara from Trenzalore during the events of The Time of the Doctor and speak to his successor.
Ryan Farrell, who captured the photos and videos from the filming claims a production assistant read Smith’s lines on the day, indicating Smith dialogue was filmed by the actor some time ago, with the scene ending in a brief argument before making up.
Finally, League of Gentlemen and Psychoville actor Reece Shearsmith who worked with director Ben Wheatley on a Field in England has moved to quell fears that Wheatley’s style won’t translate well to Doctor Who. Shearsmith said:
“I’m not sure that you could ever somehow visually taint it with your style. Maybe it’d be different if he was writing it as well. There’s a very abrupt and savage streak in Ben’s work, but I don’t think it will quite filter through… with a Who script.”
