Doctor Who‘s audience rose significantly for last night’s episode, rising from the 3.01 million viewers that watched The Lie of the Land overnight to 3.58 million for Empress of Mars, the ratings reflect a 20.6 % share of the potential audience compared to last week’s 15.0%.
Doctor Who was under competition from the England vs. Scotland World Cup Qualifier and The Voice Kids on ITV, the football drawing 4.73m viewers on a day where no show topped 5 million.
Doctor Who‘s ratings were not far from other shows on the same evening, the following Casualty receiving 3.9 million viewers.
Despite the increased live audience the episode scored the 3rd lowest overnight of the series, which as expected is being led by The Pilot. The final consolidated rating will of course include viewers who watched via catch-up and will bring the final total up by some considerable margin.

Enough of the ratings fodder. it fight against other shows and it just cannot win. Put it where there is no competition and it will go up. Ratings is just a crap benchmark.

This week was not up against BGT final and champions league final so of course it did better

I’m being constantly underwhelmed by this final season. The series feels like it’s leaking away slowly - shame as I’ve been a die hard fan since childhood and never missed an Ep.
