New Reeltime Doctor Who Spinoff Announced Starring Nicholas Courtney

Realtime Pictures have announced they have signed a deal with Marvin Haisman and Henry Lincoln for a new video special featuring a rematch between Nicholas Courtney’s Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and both the Great Intelligence and Yeti.

The 50-minute straight to video special, a sequel to the Troughton classics The Abominable Snowmen and The Web of Fear, will enter pre-production this autumn, will shoot in 1993 for a projected release in the anniversary year.

Keith Barnfather, Executive Producer at Realtime says:

“As the BBC seem unlikely to produce any new Doctor Who for the foreseeable future, we wanted to ensure that fans had some new drama to help celebrate the anniversary

The storyline has yet to be commissioned, but Nicholas Courtney will be back as the Brigadier and Mark Ayres will be composing the music. Our contract with Melvyn and Henry allows us to develop the themes they created in the original Sixties stories featuring The Great Intelligence and his Yeti robots, The Abominable Snowmen and The Web of Fear. I’m very excited about the project.”
