Speaking to The Mirror, unnamed BBC bosses have said they are “hopeful” more missing episodes of Doctor Who will be made available next year.
“BBC Worldwide’s goal this year was to lovingly restore and release the nine missing episodes that were returned to us by Philip Morris in time for fans to enjoy alongside the 50th anniversary celebrations. We have not received any more lost episodes, although we remain hopeful that more Doctor Who treasures will be returned in the near future.”
Comment: The BBC continue their non-committal stance on missing episodes yet their language here is as blatant as it has been. They state they have not received any more when “haven’t found any more” would be more usual and logical, they even give a date of 2014 when they’ll hopefully be able to make more available. The article should give a boost to all those who believe in the rumours when information and enthusiasm seemed to be on the wane.
