Strax, Jenny and Vastra Possibly Set To Return in Series 8

The Paternoster Gang of Strax, Jenny and Madame Vastra maybe set to return to Doctor Who for Peter Capaldi’s first season.

Dan Starkey and Catrin Stewart, who play the Sontaran Strax and maid Jenny respectively, have stated they have heard Steven Moffatt wants the trio to return. Speaking at Auckland’s Armageddon Expo, Starkey said

“I have not heard anything official, apparently Steven Moffat announced at ComicCon that we would be coming back for the new series. It’s great because there’s always a chance we could come back.”

Starkey is equally confident the gang will return for the new series

“You have not seen the last of us! I think it’s (filming) is in the New Year. I went to the wrap party for Matt’s final episode and it was a bit like ‘the king is dead, long live the king’.”

Smith’s Doctor will of course regenerate into the new Peter Capaldi incarnation during the Christmas special. The Jenny and Strax actors meanwhile will participate on a panel with fellow new series actors Ian McNeice (Winston Churchill) and Simon Fisher-Becker (Dorium Maldovar) at Armageddon this weekend and both Catrin and Ian have unique memories of conventions past

“I have had people pretend to go down on one knee and propose to me, another man asked if he could pick me up (off the ground). I was not sure about that. The Judo moves (Jenny has learned) would probably come in very useful if a man tried to pick me up (again).”

McNeice too recalls his own memory of convention fun.

“I got into a lift in Chicago and someone slipped me a note that said ‘see me in Room 1092 for the party of your life’. I didn’t make it.”

McNeice, who took the model Spitfire from Churchill’s war room home after filming, particularly enjoys meeting fans. “If it was not for them we would not be working,” he said.
