Episode 7 of Series 8, Mummy on the Orient Express, will broadcast at the latest ever time for an episode of Doctor Who, 8:35pm on Saturday October 11.
The latest timing means that the show is again scheduled against ITV’s The X Factor, now ending simultaneously at 9:20pm. Despite fears that the new scheduling would hit overnights, there was only a marginal hit to Doctor Who with The Caretaker losing a mere 0.03m viewers on Time Heist.
Doctor Who Magazine #478 reported that the titular Mummy was deemed scary enough by the BBC for a later time slot.
