Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge has seemingly ruled herself out of the running to replace Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor Who lead, denying she knew anything of becoming the new Time Lord.
Speaking at last night’s BAFTA ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall, Waller-Bridge confirmed reports she would be appearing in the upcoming Star Wars Anthology Han Solo film, but rejected recent media reports linking her with becoming the 13th Doctor.
“I am not going to be the first female Doctor, not that I know of,” she stated, despite being bookmaker’s favourite to become the series’ first male lead.
Other names linked to the role include Game of Thrones’ Natalie Dormer, Kris Marshall, Tilda Swinton, Sacha Dhawan and Luke Treadaway, with some sources suggesting the latter two are now favourites to win the role.
