Speculation is rising that an announcement on the return of the seven part season one serial Marco Polo to the BBC may be imminent.
While there is of course no confirmation and everything at this stage must be taken as rumour, reports have been circling for some weeks that the restoration work on Polo had been completed and work on the eventual DVD release either also finished or well underway.
Marco Polo of course was heavily reported online as being part of the initial release of missing episodes in October alongside The Web of Fear and Enemy of the World.
Suggestion is that the announcement could come as soon as Saturday’s Doctor Who After-Party or the BFI event on December 2nd.
Of course as ever this is only rumour and hopes shouldn’t be raised unduly but maybe one to take with a little less salt than usual. As Paul Vanezis says, until we’ve seen it, we won’t believe it.

More than one copy of Marco Polo was found by Morris during his search, likely in Ethiopia and Hong Kong.
Marco Polo was originally intended to be released alongside The Enemy of the World and The Web of Fear or in a competing rumour instead of The Enemy of the World.
Marco Polo will not be announced alone and at least one other serial will be announced as being recovered. Speculation on this ranges from parts of The Daleks Masterplan to The Macra Terror and The Massacre.
The restoration work on Marco Polo was problematic or botched, preventing it’s release in October.
