New Doctor Peter Capaldi and Clara actress Jenna Coleman are expected to go on a “world tour” in efforts to promote Series 8, visiting five continents and seven cities in just twelve days.
Accompanied by producer Steven Moffat, the leading duo will make a start in Cardiff on August 7, following up with London and ending the promotional tour in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on August 19.
The potentially exhausting twelve day taunt will also pass through South Korea, Australia, the United States and Mexico.
Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi said:
“It’s fantastic that so many people across the world love Doctor Who. After eight months solid filming deep in the world of monsters, Jenna and I are thrilled to be heading for the planet of fans.”
Show executives said that the trip will be the largest promotional tour ever undertaken for Doctor Who, comparable to those of Hollywood blockbusters. BBC Worldwide Chief Brands Officer Amanda Hill was enthusiastic:
“This tour is something normally reserved for Hollywood blockbusters but with Doctor Who it appears you can do anything you dream of and continue to challenge what’s perceived as the norm in TV.”
