Madame Vastra actress Neve McIntosh has spoken on the “lesbian kiss” furore earlier this series, saying how surprised she was at the reaction in certain quarters.
Speaking the Brisbane Times ahead of The Supanova Pop Culture Expo in the city later this month, the Scottish actress believed there would be “raised eyebrows” at the most over the scene in the Series 8 opener Deep Breath:
“There was a wee bit of a hoo-ha, I thought there might be a few raised eyebrows but nothing like what was going on. I was kind of going ‘But I’m a lizard!’ and of course now everyone says ‘lizbian’ as well. People are going to react like people are going to react, it was slightly freaky to be at the centre of that little storm, but hopefully everyone has calmed down and got a wee bit more sense and perspective now.”
