Matt Smith has admitted he wished a different cut of his final scenes on Doctor Who had been used, desiring a “more brutal” exit from the show.
Speaking at Wondercon, Smith revealed that there were many alternative versions of the Eleventh Doctor’s final moments in The Time of the Doctor.
“It’s very interesting the Christmas episode and particularly the regeneration. We shot so many different versions of that - we shot much more brutal, emotional and troubling takes and stories in there. The actual take that is used is an interesting one for me. But to be honest, although it’s still a great ‘Doctor Who’ episode, I think perhaps of what we shot and what was cut I would have chosen differently.”
Matt was also reunited with former co-star Karen Gillan at the Oculus premiere a few days prior, the two being snapped on the red carpet together:
Oculus is released in theatres on April 11th.
