The Doctor Who World Tour has kicked off in style as thousands of fans descended on Cardiff for the world premiere of Deep Breath, the feature length opening of Series 8.
Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman earlier in the day posed for a striking photoshoot at Cardiff’s historic castle before heading over to St. David’s Hall where 2000 packed the auditorium.
Capaldi, Coleman, Samuel Anderson and producer Steven Moffat who were joined on the red carpet by Cybermen and Daleks, spent some time interacting with fans on the red carpet before heading inside for the scheduled showing of Deep Breath and Q&A session.
Jason Mohammed introduced and MC’d the event on stage while BBC Wales Director Rhodri Talfan Davies reminded everyone not to post spoilers online. Luckily, we don’t think Marcelo Carmago was in attendance.
The Moff said that he was overwhelmed by the reaction:
“Incredibly exciting, nothing any of us imagined, it just gets a bigger reaction every year.”
Which Peter Capaldi thanked those in attendance:
“Thanks to everyone who came along today to help us launch the new series in style. Such warmth and an amazing turn-out. Thank you!”
The next stop is London with the show ongoing at the BFI at time of publication before headed to Seoul South Korea as the first international leg of the tour.
Doctor Who returns on August 23 with the public airing of Deep Breath on BBC One and in cinemas worldwide.
