Reports from Wales Today seem to suggest that current Doctor Who Producer Steven Moffat has signed up for a further year of the show, remaining as showrunner for at least Series 10 scheduled for 2016.
Speaking at a Q&A event in New York to celebrate 10 years of the revived series, Moffat is described by Wales Today as “having just signed up for another year of Doctor Who, and with the ongoing success of Sherlock, Moffat’s place in the Tardis of broadcasting in Wales looks secure.”

Given that Series 9 is far into production, it seems likely that this indicates a further series from The Grand Moff next year, his sixth overall series and two away from the record set by John Nathan-Turner in the 1980s.
Peter Capaldi is expected to return for Series 10 while Jenna Coleman is expected to depart from the series either at the end of Series 9 or this coming Christmas.
Doctor Who Series 9 meanwhile will air this autumn/fall.
