Russell T. Davies has revealed how he turned down an offer from the BBC to be involved in a proposed Doctor Who Tenth Anniversary project.
This March marks ten years since RTD brought back the show with Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper in the lead roles, yet, speaking to the Radio Times, the former producer doesn’t feel the need for a celebratory affair:
“Someone from the branding team sent me a very lovely email saying do you want to do something. I don’t know what they imagined: a talk or a convention perhaps. I just said no, to be honest. A programme can’t have its fiftieth and then it’s tenth. I think that’s just confusing. It’s marvellous and glorious; let it carry on.”
A source told the RT that plans for the new series anniversary were as yet to be decided and the primary focus of the Corporation had been the overarching 50th anniversary last year.
